How it started 🐭
Every few months I get an itch to head to Walt Disney World. We have the sweetest memories traveling there when it was just me and Brian. We went on a quick weekend trip before the girls were born. It was very much a budget trip. It rained about 6 inches during the weekend we were there…. sleeping in a tent in Fort Wilderness Campsites 😳. We still laugh about the ducks that floated by on what was SUPPOSED to be dry ground.
Once our daughters came along, the real trips began. We visited Walt Disney World and Fort Wilderness again when our oldest two were 2 and 13 months 🤪. We laughingly say that that was the trip that lead to buying our camper. But we went with Brian’s parents, plus his youngest brother and his then fiance. We explored the parks, enjoyed the gray stuff for Kevin’s birthday, learned a lot about tent camping with very small children, had our first princess meal, and absolutely fell in love.
Not long after that, we visited for our middle daughter’s third birthday. It was a budget trip (as most of ours are) so we enoyed one park day (at Magic Kingdom, of course), then spent a second day exploring the resorts via the monorail, including breakfast at Chef Mickey’s, and hanging out at my personal favorite pool on property- the Art of Animation. The best part of that trip was when we were chosen to be the family who opened the park. We were selected from the crowd, escorted to the train station, met at least 15 characters, then road to the castle via the firetruck. It was the definition of Disney magic.
How it’s going now 😍
Since then, we have been as a family of 5, with friends, and as anniversary and birthday trips. I love the way we can go there and forget about life. For a few short days, you can just be a kid and it brings me so much joy.
Are you a Disney fan? What’s your favorite Walt Disney World memory?
