I first worked with the Kirby family four years ago when their oldest daughter, Emily, was graduating from high school. It was a joy to see them again- this time with their youngest daughter, Anna, as a senior in high school. For this session, we set our locations around places they love as a family and that were important to Anna.
One of my favorite things about senior sessions is that we can be creative about what we do based on what is important to you or your child. I think photographing your family during this year is just as important as photographing the seniors themselves, so whether you are part of the Senior Year Experience or you break down a full session to get both, make sure you capture your family too.
The Kirby’s session was broken into two parts—we started with a short family mini session where we could feature the whole family while also grabbing sibling pictures and some individuals.
We then spent the rest of the session on Anna’s senior portraits. Full sessions can include a change of clothes and a second location, so her gallery was still full of a variety of pictures.
If your child is more reluctant to be photographed, this may be the perfect solution for you. It allows for a variety of looks and images without the huge time investment.
I would love to talk with you about scheduling that would work for you and for your family!
